Putting the REDMAGIC Titan 16 Pro to the Test: Reddit Review

Since its release, the REDMAGIC Titan 16 Pro has been making waves in the industry as an impressive and solid gaming laptop. The powerhouse processor, advanced cooling, and elevated design make the Titan 16 Pro a heavyweight in the market – providing seamless gameplay, immersive graphics, and impressive storage. However, we understand that the true test of a superior gaming laptop comes from reviews by actual users. This is why we’ve turned to Reddit reviews for a comprehensive overview of the REDMAGIC Titan 16 Pro in action.

Reddit user Abeja provided a full review of the Titan 16 Pro - touting the gaming device as a solid laptop after using it for 2 weeks for both gaming and coding. They commented that this would be especially true for users prioritizing CPU performance over GPU. Now, let’s closer look into the review and see how the Titan 16 Pro has been holding its own in the public eye.

A Proven Gaming Powerhouse

The REDMAGIC Titan 16 Pro hosts a powerful 14th-gen Intel Core i9-14900H processor with 24 cores and 32 threads – ensuring that the CPU responds rapidly and can run even the most demanding games using its multi-core efficiency and seamless gameplay capabilities. Abeja put the Titan 16 Pro’s gaming capacity to the test by trying most games out using 2.5K resolution.

The results for tests while playing Cyberpunk 2077 with medium ray tracing preset, DLSS auto, and frame generation were 60-70FPS. With a low ray tracing preset, DLSS auto, and frame generation, the game reached 80-85FPS – running at 40-50FPS with DLSS disabled. Using an Ultra preset(no rt), DLSS auto, and frame generation reached 85-90FPS. Abeja noted that the performance of the laptop was noticeably higher in less intensive areas of the game.

Playing Genshin Impact ensured that everything maxed out at a stable 60fps while Wuthering Waves maxed out with DLSS quality around 90-110FPS in the free world - but still reaching 120FPS in certain areas while running at a stable 120FPS inside domains.

Pushing Benchmarks

When it came down to putting the Titan 16 Pro through benchmark tests, Abeja found that the laptop achieved a multi-core score of 24418 and a single-core score of 2049 using the Cinebench R23 benchmark. With a 3Dmark test, Time Spy reached 11041, Fire Strike leveled at 24033, and Steel Nomad at 2327. CrystalDiskMark also showed its performance test results for the Titan 16 Pro as seen below.

Designed to Inspire

The exterior of the Titan 16 Pro gaming laptop is covered in sleek aluminum and features an exciting and colorful RGB, full-sized customizable keyboard. Abeja commented that the aluminum body gives the laptop a solid and premium feel right from the start. They also noted that screen wobble and keyboard flex are minimal and that the only plastic components on the laptop remain the areas around the 'REDMAGIC' RGB letters below the display, as well as the display bezels and the keyboard keys – ensuring an overall sleek and sophisticated look.

Abeja quickly got used to the feel of the keyboard and complimented the super smooth surface of the AG glass touchpad – stating that it was satisfying to use and supports gestures as well. They also commented on the custom RGB lighting of the REDMAGIC Titan 16 Pro’s keyboard and noted that users can set the RGB colors and effects to their own likes in the Light mode tab for the 4 zones of the keyboard, the “REDMAGIC” letters, and the brand’s logo on the lid.

Abeja also went on to state that the Titan 16 Pro’s speakers produce decent bass and can get very loud with pretty much no distortion. This allows users to enjoy immersive media and gaming audio quality that is leagues better than the average gaming laptop.

Software Above the Standard

Continuing their review, Abeja mentioned that the REDMAGIC Titan 16 Pro comes with a standard Windows 11 Home installation activated and ready to use. They noted that the control center software by REDMAGIC called “Goper” comes preinstalled too and allows users to tweak the performance and control all the RGB settings.

Using the System mode tab, users can choose between 3 different performance modes - Office, Balance, and Gaming. Users can also monitor multiple systems under this feature. From the testing done by Abeja, the differences between the three main modes are the fan curve speeds and that the Office mode disables performance cores. When playing games in Office mode, Abeja noted that the performance difference was about 5-10% in comparison to Gaming mode. The fans were also noticeably quieter. When on idle, Abeja further noted that the fans stay at about 2000 RPM.
